General information: A Qualified Opportunity Fund (QOF) is an investment vehicle, organized as a corporation or a partnership, for the purpose of investing in Qualified Opportunity Zone (QOZ) property which are designated low-income communities. Governors designate which census tracts in their states qualify as QOZs. Investors in QOFs can receive tax benefits, such as temporary deferral of capital gains, and in some cases, permanent exclusion of gains.
